Rideau Canal Shuttle Service
We offer a pick up and drop off service to most lockstations from Kingston to Ottawa. We have kayaks and canoes that are ideal for paddling this route, but if you have your own boats, you can still take advantage of our shuttle service.
We have parking available for your vehicle while you are away. You can start right here in Kingston and get picked up in Ottawa or you can get dropped off in Ottawa and paddle towards Kingston. This latter option is less popular as you will be paddling into the prevailing wind from the south and west. If you would like to paddle only a section of the route, we can drop you off at one of the many lockstations. Our service is flexible, so we will do our best to work to your holiday plans.
We will contact you once you send in a booking to confirm availability and departure time. Payment will be required to complete your booking at that time.
Rideau Canal Shuttle Service Details and Fees
We have room to transport your gear, boat(s) and up to 4 passengers from any lockstation along the Rideau Canal to or from Kingston. The fee for transport is as follows:
- Between Kingston & Smith Falls: $175.
- Between Merrickville & Ottawa: $350.
- HST included.
If you are more than 2, there are options to get you back to Kingston:
OPTION 01: VEHICLES PARKED IN KINGSTON AND ONE AT END LOCKSTATION.
You could leave one vehicle parked at your end destination and one in Kingston (ask us about FREE secure parking of your vehicle in Kingston). At the end of your trip, I will pick up the boats, gear and 1 or 2 drivers and bring you back to your vehicle in Kingston and you can then drive back to pick up the other members in your group.
OPTION 02: ONE WAY MULTI PASSENGER VAN RENTAL.
Enterprise Rental has many locations in Ottawa and a drop off location in Kingston. Drop off will need to be by 5pm. A compact SUV for 5 people will cost about $150 + fuel. Please visit: https://www.enterprise.ca/en/home.html
OPTION 03: STAY IN OTTAWA AT THE END OF YOUR PADDLE.
If you wish to visit Ottawa, once you are done your paddling, I will pick up the boat(s) at Dow's Lake Pavillion at a pre-arranged time and you can go along your way.
Lockage Permit: $50 (To be returned at end of trip)

- 5-7 Days: $55 per day
- 8+ Days: $50 per day
Canoe Rentals Rates:
- 2-4 Days: $70 per day

15' 3" Beaufort Touring Kayaks
Our 15' 3" Beaufort Touring Kayaks have a large cockpit suited for tall paddlers giving extra legroom. Complete with foot controlled rudder system, this kayak tracks well and is fast through the water. Storage compartments fore and aft. These kayaks are ideal for paddling the 200 km distance of the Rideau Heritage Route. Spray skirts available.

Our 16' Gaspe Sea Kayak have a hard chine hull with great stability. Complete with foot controlled rudder system, these kayaks have great tracking and are fast through the water. This large, high volume design is perfect for a larger paddler and more gear. These kayaks are ideal for paddling the 200 km distance of the Rideau Heritage Route. Spray skirts are available for these kayaks.

Our 16' Kawartha Canoe by ClearWater Design is very stable canoe for both lakes and rivers. The bottom is slightly rounded with no keel.
We assist all customers to get their canoes ready, help launch and get out upon your return. We will provide you with some helpful suggestions for paddling destinations along Kingston's historic waterfront.

Reservation and Cancellation Policy
Reservations required, full payment via our online reservations system. No refunds for cancellations within 48 hours, a 25% fee will be applied to cancellations greater than 48 hours. On site rentals will be cancelled if weather conditions are unsafe for biking. In this case, full refunds will be given.
